Whether you have become too large or too small for a PEO, or have other reasons for wanting to leave your PEO, exiting a PEO can be a daunting task. There are many moving parts and considerations in order to ensure a smooth transition with minimal employee disruption.

So what are some of the moving parts? Here is just a partial checklist of just some of the most important services that need to be put in place at the time of your exit.

Know your contract

  • Know exactly what services you are paying for
  • Understand the PEO pricing models and which works best for you
  • Read all the terms and conditions
  • Have a 30-day out in your contract

In order to ensure a smooth transition, timing is paramount. All new services must be in place and ready to go the day you leave the PEO. You can’t skip a payroll or ignore compliance issues for even a short period. That is why it is so important to have an expert at your side when planning the move away from your PEO.

You don’t have to do this alone

PEO Exit is a free service that helps you transition from a PEO to new vendors. We work with you to get all the parts in place and help ensure that your level of HR benefits and support does not change when you leave your PEO.
